The 4th Annual Singapore International Model United Nations (SIMUN) Conference was held at LFS from Thursday, March 13th to Saturday, March 15th.

This conference gives students the opportunity to act as student delegates of various nations, and to simulate intellectual debates modelled after the United Nations General Assembly. During these debates, students are able to develop an awareness of the world of diplomacy and negotiations, while putting forth their ideas and suggestions.

Model United Nations or Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model UN, students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

The students, aged between 15 and 18, prepare resolutions in different committees before presenting and debating them during the General Assembly.
