Kindergarten provides the basics of a good education in the French system. It prepares for primary school. Its aim is to help children become "pupils" by teaching them to be self-confidant, to learn with and among others and to enjoy school. It enables children to develop their own personalities and to become self reliant among people other than family members. It helps them grow by giving them the abilities that will be needed in primary school. This is achieved through a global teaching approach consisting of games, hands-on experience, observation as well as individual and collective activities. From Kindergarten 3 onwards, all pupils move on to Key Stage 2 and begin the process of mastering the written language.
The aim in Kindergarten is to develop in all children the oral skills they will need to have access to all types of education. The curriculum revolves around five axes which all emphasise oral skills. These axes are: Speaking: 1. A good command of the spoken language enables children not only to better
communicate with others but also to access the culture associated with their
language, to learn about and understand the environment in which they live
and to enter the world of writing. Living together: Children learn to live with other children, communicating, sharing and co-operating, while building their place within the community. Using one's body to express oneself: Children learn to know themselves better and develop their physical abilities. Kindergarten provides a stimulating environment, which helps them to fulfil their potential alone and with others in a variety of challenging situations. Discovering the world: By developing their curiosity, children learn to formulate questions, to make hypotheses, to observe, identify and classify what is around them. They learn to think by themselves and draw conclusions to gain a better understanding of the world around them. Developing sensitivity, imagination, and creativity: Children learn to express themselves with gestures and looks, as well as vocally. They also discover new artistic approaches and cultural references. Practical information : Schedules : The children will be taken care of by the school:
